New Year's Resolutions 2012
This is a “note-to-self” kind of post. I think God has revealed a lot of what He is able and willing to do in my life, and how utterly incapable I am of improving myself in any way. By God’s grace, I believe that I will continue to grow in Him.
So here are a few [small, but important nonetheless!] goals I have for the coming year (and the years to come!). In no particular...

Dear all Christian Tumblr folks,
cortneyabraham:
I realize that Tumblr is a place where we all come to share our feelings, emotions, secrets, desires, and humorous pictures of cats. I understand that almost all of our followers are strangers, which makes it much easier to share parts of ourselves that would normally go unshared. But we must also remember that while our followers are just tiny little pictures, sometimes gray...

“Music is not robust to degradation.”
I’m watching a video about the attempt to restore musical cognition to patients with cochlear implants. They perceive language well, but pitch is apparently nowhere close—and even if the pitch was close, the music would still sound terrible. (In my humble opinion, a pitch sounds the worst when it’s just a little bit wrong, relatively speaking.) So...

I Love My Doctrine More Than Jesus: Why No One... →
jspark3000:
Scholars, theologians, bloggers, pastors, Calvinists: I love scholarly stuff because it’s a fascinating dig of brilliant minds into every branched minutia of knowledge, but no one in the real world cares about it as much as you do.

Behold the Man upon a cross My sin upon His shoulders, Ashamed I hear my mocking voice Call out among the scoffers It was my sin that left Him there Until it was accomplished His dying breath has brought me life I know that it is finished

To'ebah - [Abomination]
brianli:
The Bible does not confine the context of exclusively to ritual violations and does use it in context of obvious immoral behavior as well. For example, Proverbs 6:16-19 states: “These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination [to’ebah] unto him: A proud look, a lying heart, hands quick to shed innocent blood, a heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be...

Jesus I belong to You
Jesus I believe in You
You’re the reason that I live
The reason that I sing
With all I am
“At first it sounds like an amazing song, however, note the emphasis is on what “I” will do. There is no information about what Jesus did for us, but a high declaration of what we will do of Him. We sing that “we” will walk wherever God wants us to, and while some of us...

Let me tell you the story of my life:
And as for my birth, on the day I was born my cord was not cut, nor was I washed with water to cleanse me, nor rubbed with salt, nor wrapped in swaddling cloths. No eye pitied me, to do any of these things to me out of compassion for me, but I was cast out on the open field, for I was abhorred, on the day that I was born.
And when You passed by me and saw me wallowing in my blood, You said to...
